The Sims 4?has a massive mod community, with one Sims mod site, ModTheSims, having 1760 game mods so far. There is a wide range of mods, like simply making your sims taller, all the way to weird mods that turn your Sims into Pokemon. Talented creators help make the game more realistic and wilder.
This specific mod is the Dental Care Mod?created by the user adeepindigo. It allows players to have a more realistic element to the game as dental care isn't usually considered. Well, you can brush your teeth in the sink but it isn't necessary to the gameplay, until now. The Dental Care Mod has a variety of features, keeping your sims happy and healthy.
6 Have You Been Flossing?
Scheduling appointments is one feature that makes this mod feel quite realistic. Luckily, you don't have to go through the frustratingly long waiting list in real life. To be able to access this scheduling feature you simply need to have any type of computer in the game. Scheduling an appointment will give the sim a sick day, so it doesn't conflict with their job or school day.
There are three appointments you can schedule. The first is the standard routine cleaning, needed every 14 days. The second option is for emergency issues such as a broken tooth. The third option is scheduling a dental procedure when your sim needs surgery.
5 Wait, Which Toothpaste Is Mine?
The Dental Mod wouldn't be complete without dental supplies! This mod includes six different toothpaste designs, nine different breath sprays, six different types of breath mints, and five different mouthwash designs.
Two of the toothpaste objects are?categorized as kid's toothpaste and one toothpaste is whitening, which the dentist may recommend after an appointment.
All of the objects only have two options when you click on them, "Put In Inventory" or "Use." They all have the same outcome, positive moodlets. These objects can also make a Sim's bathroom much more realistic. Base game decorations for bathrooms are quite limited in comparison unless the only thing you have in your bathroom is towels and candles.
4 Cavities, Loose Teeth... A Dentist's Dream.
When a sim has an issue with their teeth, a pop-up will appear to advise them to book an appointment. Issues can include; chipped teeth, general pain in their mouth, loose teeth, and cavities. Quick procedures, like the one seen above, can be fixed in the appointment, rather than making another appointment.
In certain circumstances, a dentist will identify that the sim has gum disease, which they can prescribe medication for. Another diagnosis is teeth sensitivity where they recommend the sim uses certain types of mouthwash. When the dentist finds that an issue requires surgery, your sim will need to make a separate procedure appointment.
3 Wait, Did I Brush This Morning?
This mod also includes a range of moodlets based around the dentist appointment, daily dental care (as seen above), the aftermath of getting braces, teeth whitening, and more. For example, a child who gets braces can get an embarrassed moodlet with the title being "Brace Face." On the other hand, a sim can get a confident moodlet from getting their teeth whitened.
A sim's dental care can affect other sims, like bad breath, making the sim uncomfortable. To be honest, we aren't surprised Sims have bad breath after running late to work because they were playing Blicblock all night!
2 Don't Worry, It'll Only Hurt A Bit
When a sim needs a procedure done for issues like wisdom teeth removal, braces, tooth implants, and root canals they have some choices. The sim can opt-out for the anesthesia if they want to, but it would be recommended to opt-in to reduce the amount of screaming.
After the procedure, the dentist may recommend medication to the sim which they can take by clicking on them. The anesthesia will also have an effect on the sim, where they feel dazed.
1 Teething Toddlers
This mod also applies to Toddlers. To go to an appointment, an older sim needs to make it through the computer. This makes sense, but it would be quite spectacular to see a toddler make their own dentist appointment.
The Dental Mod creator has also recommended the Milestones Mod created by the user NateTheL0ser. It contains a teething mod that works alongside the dental mod, helping to replicate what would happen to toddlers in real life. Toddlers can be relieved of their teething pain through teething tablets. Your sims could also become the dentist themselves with a Dental career mod created by user Midnitetech.
An informative and in-depth review of this mod has been posted by the Sims YouTuber XUrbanSimsX in which you can see the mod in action.
