Sanrio has been around for more than half a century, celebrating the 50th anniversary of its iconic mascot Hello Kitty in a variety of ways in 2024. While not technically a part of those celebrations, Sanrio has now teamed up with Jazwares for a new range of Squishmallows, all of them modeled after the original designs of Hello Kitty and some of her famous, and very popular, friends.
The new Sanrio Squishmallows range includes five 14-inch plushes, all of which are available now on Amazon. Leading the charge is Hello Kitty who, since she's the oldest - and the OG - has two new Squishmallows while everyone else gets one. The first of Hello Kitty's Squishmallows has the mascot in blue and yellow, while the other switches those colors for red and pink. Both of Hello Kitty's new Squishmallows have the character's iconic red bow on her left ear.

Shadow And Amy Among Four New Sonic Squishmallows Available Now
Amy makes her Squishmallows debut as part of a new line of Sonic plushes available now.
Even though Kuromi hasn't been around for nearly as long as Hello Kitty and some of her other friends, the slightly darker Sanrio character has become almost as popular as the cat that has held the company's lead role for the last five decades. Kuromi's design has remained largely the same since her introduction, but her original Squishmallow takes it back to her simple debut design, putting the rabbit in a black hood with a pink skull in the middle.
The Original Designs Of Sanrio's Most Famous Characters Are Now Squishmallows
Kuromi, My Melody, And Hello Kitty Gets Two
Kuromi is celebrating her joint anniversary with My Melody this year and the two of them will be in a stop-motion buddy show debuting on Netflix later this year. My Melody has been around a lot longer than Kuromi, joining the Sanrio gang just a year after Hello Kitty. My Melody's original design, while still making the character instantly recognizable, might be the most different from how her character is portrayed today. The Melody Squishmallow has a dark pink hood with a hello bow on her right ear.
Last but not least in Sanrio's original Squishmallows collection is Pompompurin. Introduced to the Hello Kitty gang in 1996, Pompompurin is a golden retriever whose original design is the simplest of all. Just a happy yellow dog with a little brown hat perched on top of his head.

Original Sanrio Squishmallows
Sanrio has teamed up with Jazwares to turn the original designs of its most famous characters into 14-inch Squishmallows. Sanrio's OG mascot has two plushes, while other popular characters including Kuromi, My Melody, and Pompompurin all have one each.
All five of the original Squishamllows are available now on Amazon through the links above for $24.99 each. No pre-orders, just ready to go and on their way to you as soon as you check out.
